![]() (1) The setup is fully scripted but before you do anything else it is a dual language version so you need to choose English before you do anything else. ![]() My thoughts below strictly reference the scripted version. There is value in both of them as we found out in our game on Friday You also need a pretty good computer to handle the scripted version. One has alot of scripting while the other has none. There are currently two different version of Clank Catacombs available in the TTS Workshop. Having those ghost cubes in the bag means that you are never truly safe from harm. Perhaps it's my play style, but Clank Catacombs feels much more tense and potentially unforgiving than other versions of Clank. I have yet to make much use of the portals - I'm not sure how many times they actually come out in a useful location versus an area that holds little appeal I appreciate that they've added more ways to obtain gold and purchase items at the marketplace with the way shrines. I have not gone through the cards to check but it feels like there are more cards that give players a nice reward.but also give them a clank or two.or sometimes even three! I'm a bit leery of taking out some of those skeletons.yes the three gold and three blue purchasing power is nice but is it worth 3 clank? I really like watching the dungeon grow as players explore and seeing a different layout grow each game and adjusting accordingly.Ĭards seem to be priced to be a bit more affordable in many cases and the effects more interesting at times - but usually at a cost. I'm certainly giving serious consideration to purchasing a copy since I know I won't have any difficulty getting it played in my group. I really enjoy the Clank series and this feels like it continues to build and improve on the Clank lineup. Wayshrines - Players may place an available cube on a wayshrine (1 per) and gain 1 gold per wayshrine they have cubes on at that time. Ghosts - similar to Clank Legacy, some tiles come with ghosts on them which adds a ghost cube to the dragon bag - and all players are injured when a ghost cube is drawn. Sometimes they don't come out in ways that are particularly helpful though Portals - allow players to move from one section of the dungeon to another if another area looks more desirable. Some of their scoring can be conditional on having certain items from the market or getting the mastery token. Prisoners - These can be rescued and can provide points as well as additional bonuses much like minor secrets can. There are a number of ways to get more of them in the game but it's never guaranteed This gives players one more thing to manage and players need to choose wisely how to spend those lock picks. Now players start the game with 3 lock picks which they can use to unlock passageways (for everyone), rescue two prisoners, get a tome, or unlock a major secret depending on the room/tile they are moving into/through. Four of the six upper dungeon tiles are randomly drawn as players explore and once they are gone players will draw from the bag of dungeon depth tiles. There are two sets of tiles (upper dungeon and dungeon depths). The obvious change - there is no set board anymore. I'm not going to go into the details of gameplay here like I usually do as it's much the same as any of the other Clank games as far as how a turn works.but I do want to toss out the changes that this version of Clank brings to the series. I had little trouble getting my brother and friend from giving it a try on TTS Friday night as they enjoy Clank as well. I still prefer regular Clank to Space Clank due in part to the setting (and maybe because it's just what I have) but also quite enjoyed my play of Clank Legacy - and really enjoyed the story there and watching the game develop as we progressed.Ĭlank Catacombs looked to continue with some of what Clank Legacy brought to the with it's own changes that looked quite interesting - especially the new exploration setup with drawing from a bag of tiles and dealing with a different dungeon each game based on how players explored. I've purchased and kept the original Clank and all of its expansions and find it to be an enjoyable game to play when I'm looking for something lighter and less thinly. ![]() I've enjoyed much of the Clank line of game from the original Clank and its many expansions to Clank in Space to Clank Legacy.
